We are very pleased to share our great news regarding Travel Medicine Education in Thailand. Recently we just get the approval from Thai Medical Council to establish the Residency Training in Preventive Medicine (Travel Medicine) for Thai doctors. It will be a full 3 years training course for doctor who would like to be the specialist in Travel Medicine. Doctors who successfully complete the training will be awarded “the Board Certified…” . For those who do not familiar with term ‘residency training’ may read this article from wikipedia for your information.

We are lucky to have a great curriculum development team from many universities and institutes such as Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Faculty of Medicine Chulalongkorn University, the Association of Preventive Medicine of Thailand and from Ministry of Public Health. We also received great valuable input from international colleagues as well as from our Medical Council. It takes almost two years to develop the course curriculum until finally it is approved. Special thanks to all who contributed in development of this training course. Next year, we will be the first university hospital in Thailand that could run this training.
